NEVER WAIT IN TRAFFIC AGAIN WITH THIS SHAPE-SHIFTING SUV
Car News, AUTO World
Why wait for traffic if you can go over traffic? Meet the Hum Rider, a sky-high SUV built by Verizon to shape-shift and lift itself over traffic.
Designed by Scott Beverly of A2Zfx, the Hum Rider is a modified Jeep Grand Cherokee fitted with a hydraulic system that enables it to stretch about 9 feet in the air. With the push of a button, the Hum Rider widens and elevates using its hydraulic lifts so it can glide over whatever traffic congestion may be in its way.
The Hum Rider utilizes 90 meters of hydraulic lines and a gasoline Honda generator powering the hydraulic pumps to force 400kg of pressure to lift the 8,500 pounds vehicle up in the air.
The Hum Rider also comes with a built-in underbody cameras to allow the driver to see what the Hum Rider is driving over, ensuring maximum safety.
While it is only a marketing tool for now, it is a pretty neat idea. Here is a video of the Hum Rider in action:
